Jontek’s new generation Answer-link 3G Telecare Response Centre was tested with
the latest range of Tynetec Telecare equipment under the supervision of a BT engineer.
The importance of the new BS8521 standard has been highlighted by the TSA, as
stated in their recent announcement (11th May, 2009):
“We are pleased to announce the publication of BS8521 which has been developed
over many years with the facilitation of the TSA and the major equipment suppliers
working together to achieve this objective.
The major equipment suppliers have all committed in advance to implement the
standard in both remote control and alarm receiving centre equipment following
publication of the standard.
This event means that it should be possible for all service providers to procure
equipment which has been designed to work with next generation networks such as
BT 21CN before the implementation of the new network across the UK
BS8521 offers for the first time the promise of improved interoperability of
remote controllers supplied by different manufacturers, better identification
and localisation of alarms and events and a solution which is resilient in the
telecommunications network environment post 2010.”
We can confirm that the BS8521 Telecare protocol will be available on the Answer-link
3G system and Tynetec Telecare equipment from June 2009 onwards.
Answer-Link 3G is the latest generation of Telecare Response Centre to be provided
by Jontek. The system is fully Web enabled, complies with the TSA Code of Practice
and is in line with the Supporting People requirements for more flexible and cost-effective
methods of working.
